History
The Day of the Dead originated in during the Aztec times during the month of Miccailhuitontli, ritchually presided by the godessMictecacihuatl ("Lady of the Dead") and dedicated to the children of the dead. Originally the Holiday fell at the end of July begining of August. However, Spanish priests decided to move it to coincide with All Hallows eve. As a result, People celebrate the Holiday on the first two days of November. There is a key factor to note about the Day of the dead, it is not a morbid time, but a festive time.
