How we did Last Year
How we did last year:
Political-As predicted, we went to war with Iraq. I was wrong about the terrorist attack on the United States. It didn't happen thank god. I was pretty on target about President Bush. His popularity rating did dwindle this year and the reason we went to Iraq in the first place is now in Question. As far as I know the 2nd Miracle of Mother Theresa did not happen. The Pope did not die and there were no Cloned baby's.

Economy-The economy is begining to recover as predicted. Stores continued to close as predicted. Malls did start to use the slow economy as a time to start renovations. Macy's and May did NOT merge as predicted. FAO Schwartz started closing stores as predicted.

Technology-There were no real new products that would revolutionize the computer industry this year as predicted. Viruses ran rampant as predicted. More wireless hookups became available as predicted. We were off on the predictions about Aol, Cable, it Scooters, Hydrogen powered cars and a new operating system. Sheesh!

Health-We were right about the West Nile Virus. It was highly mentioned this year. Wrong about Small Pox Vaccine, Aids, Stem cells, clones, and botox. The FDA realeased a few more formerlly prescriptions to over the counter. I guess it was a bad year for predictions last year for the Clairvoyant ¡DAve!

Mother Nature-We were pretty right on here except for recieving a signal from outer space.

Music-Well I was half off base on the internet Theory. While the Internet is still killing the music industry, the industry did little to find ways to make money off of it. Sure new music stores opened up on the net, but the free sites still out number the pay ones. There were more lawsuits from the RIAA however. I was right about Concrete Blonde, they did release a live album and are working on a studio album to be released soon. There were new studio albums by Fleetwood Mac and Madonna as predicted. There was no "Farm aid"type benefit for Iraq as predicted. Was on target about Michael Jackson.

Entertainment-Dvd only rental stores did not pop up as expected, Movies did start to be traded freely as predicted on the internet but it was not as widespread as predicted. The soaps did take a ratings dive this year and one was cancelled.

Seattle-Transportation was the buzz word this year. The ave predicton was off. There was no talks of merging the area's transportation agencies. Seattle did NOT become a 1 newspaper town as predicted and The Seattle weekly did NOT fold. Sak's 5th ave did not come to town and Cell square and Silver platters did not fold. EMP did not lower admission as predicted but staff did get laid off.
Sheesh, The clairvoyant ¡DavE! was off this year big time. Hopefully our predictions will be more on target next year!

Political Predictions
Well, Well, Well The big political issues this year Will be George Bush, Gay Marriage, and the telecommunications industry

1. George Bush will be impeached! WHoa Nelly that's quite a claim. Here's the scoop. After the elections this year, there will be a scandal that will rock the White house. This scandle will just minimally start to unravel at the end of the year. Yes Unfortunately Bush will be re-elected again. However, 2005 will be spent on this scandal. The scandal will be so big that it will threaten National Security and call for Bush's impeachement at the end of his Second Term(not this year but a couple of years down the road). Unfortunatly said scandal will come too late after Bush has been reelected..

2. Gay Marriage-This issue will not be solved this year but More states, countries etc will be willing to recognize Gay Marriages. This will eventually cause the U.s. To legalize Gay Marriage but not until around 2008. However, I see that Massachusetts will legalize Gay Marriage this year because they won't be able to find a law that cancel's out last November's Court ruling. However, Hawaii will be the first state to legalize marriage between Two consenting adults. There will be lawsuits galore however, it is only the begining of the end of the legalized Marriage between a man and a woman.

3. The Tellecommunications Industry-I.E. your phone lines. This was a hot potato last year and will be this year. The U.s. will pass laws to REREGULATE the industry. First Landlines will continue to see falling sales due to Voip and Cell phones. Congress will pass new laws to regulate the industry so everyone wins. I also see one of the major Ilec's(Verizon, Qwest, SBC, Pac Bell, etc) becoming the Next Enron.

4. Look for states to start toying around with new ways to raise taxes via "Sin Taxes" Allthough no major laws will be passed, lawmakers will toss around ideas of legalizing Pot, Prostitution, and gambling ala Netherlands style of government. Now before you start to think the Clairvoyant ¡DavE! is a dot short of his dice remember it is all for taxes.

5. Terrorism-The Clairvoyant ¡DavE! see's NO terrorist attacks in the U.s. this year by al Queda. In fact, if there is a terrorist attack, it will be by a new organization and NOT al queda. Keep in mind 2004 is an election year. SO expect lots of Orange alerts this year.

Economy Predictions
1. The economy is going to get better this year. Yes folks the good times are back. Unemployment will be at an all new low and company profits will be up. However:

2. Retail chains will continue to restructure.  Look for store closings and even a chain or two going out of business completely. I see bad times ahead for Toys R Us, Federated stores, May, Rite Aid and others.

3. This seems weird and unusual but I see it happening, Walmart will either Buy out Kmart or merge. This will be done to quickly expand into areas that don't currently have Walmart or to change some of the Kmart's into Sam's club.

4. Music Chains take a big hit. There will be no more Sam goody, Tower Records, or Warehouse stores at the end of the year.

5. Fast food chains will take a worse hit than ever. Some locations will close. However, STarbucks will expand even bigger and profit like no tomorrow.

Technology Predictions
IT's going to be a big year for technology. First of all the buzz words are going to be SPAM, WIreless and VOIP
1. Congress will pass more laws against spam however, they will not work. Spam filters will not work. However, a new way to deliver email will have some promising results. This will be announced towards the end of the year and will emulate how snail mail is delivered.  This will eventually lead to a fee for sending email.

2. If you thought the worms and viruses were bad last year, they will be worse this year but no as frequent.

3. Wireless, Wireless, Wirelses remember wireless. Most Isp's will begin offering it at the end of the year and more stores will start selling Wireless devices rather than wired.

4. VOIP-No it's not a video game or a horror movie it's Voice over ip. It will gradually replace land lines in 2004 as it will be cheaper and more convenient.

5. DVD's-Will be hotter than ever. Towards the end of the year most video stores will be renting more DVD's than Video Cassettes. Also a new DVD will be released this year that takes on a new format but offers more features than the standard DVD.

2. Look for more products with low carbs.

3. The Mad Cow Scare will be just that a scare and will be unheard of toward the end of the year. It will not be eliminated however, but new standards in the beef industry will make Beef safer than ever.

4. Look for the Fda to approve more over the counter drugs that were previously only available by Prescription.

5. Look for signifigant medical advances in Cancer, Aids, and Heart disease.

Mother Nature
You will know this year that it's not nice to fool with Mother Nature.
1. The west coast will have a powerful earthqauke. It will be remote enough to cause minimal damage but close enough to a city to remind people that earthquakes still happen.

2. The east coast will have it's first major Earthquake. It will be around 5.0.

3. Look for extreme seasons in the United states.

4. This will be a good summer forest fire wise. It will be one of the lowest fire seasons ever. If any.

5. It will be an off year for hurricanes as well.

Entertainment and Music Predictions
1. It will not be Michael Jackson's year. First of all, he will loose custody of his kids but it will be temporary and they will go to relatives possibly his parents. He will more than likely be convicted but it will be found later he was not guilty of child molestation. However during the process, he will loose most of his money if not all of it.

2. Madonna will not release an album for a couple of years but Will yes I repeat Will be in another move or beign filming it this year.

3. Reunions for Concrete Blonde, Rolling Stones, Eurythmics, and ABBA-Yes thats right folks... Abba!

4. This will be quite an off year for artists new and old. Look for no major earth shattering new releases at all this year.

5. Fleetwood Mac will announce they will return to the studio this year towards the end of the year for another new album.

6. I'm sure prince will release a new album as well followed by a tour.

7. Look for Tina Turner to come out of the woodwork as well. Yes I know she has retired but she will be back!

8. Break up's are in the works for OUTKAST, Blink 182 and Pearl jam. OOps I wasn't supposed to mention that. FOrget I put Pearl Jam is breaking up this year.

9. Poor Poor Courtney Love. This won't be her year. She will not only be mourning the 10th year of Kurt's death but will also be the target of an investigation regarding it. Also look for more rumbles and jail time by her.

10. Has it been awhile since we saw a movie by SPike lee, or John Water's? Expect them this year.

11. Television will continue to sink to new lows with the reality T.v. shows. And I swear this year they will stop bleeping out swear words on the Osbournes since it will be the last season, and you may even hear the "f" word on network Tv.

12. Another daytime Soap will be cancelled. I feel it will be NBC which will eventually stop showing soaps all together.

13. People will start going to the movies again. This will be a year of blockbusters at the boxoffice.

14. Video game systems like playstation 2, and X box will drop their prices following game cube's suit. However individual game prices will go up to compensate.

15. Music industry will continue to go down. It will be harder to get music without a computer.

16. ¡Dwww! will cease to exist after 04-18-04! An Announcement will be maid with full details in February!

Predictions for the Pacific Northwest
1. Look for a revitalized Bellevue Square this year. With the aquisition of the Lincoln Square, Bellevue Square will be bigger and better than ever. In fact new stores that have never been to the northwest will set up shop there.

2. Dick's will finally announce an expansion of at least one more restuarant.

3. The Bon Macy's will become Macy's

4. It will continue to be a bad year for Channel 4. Fischer will sell off more assetts to survive. It will hold onto Channel 4 but it will sell Cannel 2 katu in Portland to survive.

5. The Seattle Time's will fold. Yes the times. Due to  the Joa and not winning the court battle, it will have no choice to either sell or fold in the cards. Will Seattle become a 1 newspaper town after all?
