Traditionally every year we have predicted events that happen in the next year. Sometimes, things have been on target others have been way off. The purpose of this page is for entertainment purposes only. It is not intended to be an accurate prediction of the future. Any predictions that come true are purely coincidental. Section I-How we did last year- Well we were off in the political area of predictions. George Bush became a political icon last year instead of our prediction that he would fail and be hated. Unfortunately, we were accurate on the prediction of terrorist attacks on U.s. Soil. I did better predicting the economy. Last year when we were putting together the predictions, economists were swearing up and down we wouldn't go into a recession. Well folks we are. Like I predicted, the dot coms had a very bad year. Several failed. As for retailers, Not as many went out as I predicted and Amazon.com did not fold. I was also pretty right on with Technology. Several major DSL providers went under last year. Toward the end of the year a new Internet Connectivty was announced however you can't use it with standard modems as I predicted. ISP's did drop like Crazy however it didn't cause a backlog on the internet as I predicted. On mother nature I predicted a west coast city will have a major Earthquake(Seattle). HOwever we did not find more mutant animals, and scientists did not discover life on other planets. I won't even talk about the music catigory last year as I failed miserably on that one. For people and entertainment Madonna did stay married to Guy Ritchie. There were only a couple of big money makers at the box office this year and More and more people did conver to DVD as well as video stores. AS for my SEattle predicitons, Boeing did lay off more people, Emp did report losses but hasn't changed much, and Seattle got it's biggest earthquake since 1965. The Mariner's did not go to the world series. To see last year's predictions click this link ---> 2001 Predictions 1. The war on terrorism will go the way of the war on Drug and wane towards the end of the year. 2. We will not have any terrorist attacks this year on Us soil, however we will have some overseas. 3. India and Pakistan tensions will intensify. The whole world will be watching this area this year. 4. The United States will find out who was responsible for the anthrax mailings last year 5. The pope will more than likely pass away this year. However due to policial infightning the Catholic Church probably won't elect a new pope this year. If they do, it will be the last pope ever. Part B-Economy- 1. The devistating holiday season will cause retailers to cut back bigtime this year. Some will be layoffs, some will be store closures. Others will close all together. 2. Kmart will file bankruptcy. 3. Sears will restructure and close some stores. 4. There will be more layoffs at companies. 5. Boeing will go on strike and it will be one of the worst in the history of the company. 6. The recession will continue but unlike economists are predicting, we will not fully recover this year. The economy will get a little worse than now but will flatten out. Part C-Technology- 1. Isp's and dot coms will continue to fail. 2. AOL will start to realize that it needs to jump on the broadband bandwagon to survive 3. If you thought last year was a bad year for Viruses and worms, this year will be worse. 4. T1 will become the popular broadband choice this year 5. Isp's will be pushing to more and more control spam since it has become out of control. Part D-Mother Nature- 1. There will be more earthquakes this year than last but they won't be as deadly. 2. The winter will be mild throughout the us. 3. This year will have the worst hurricane season ever 4. Scientists will make a historical discovery in outer space. Part E-Music- 1. The big news in the music industry this year will be copyright protected CD's. These cd's will make it impossible to copy the music onto other discs. However the music industry will have some explaining to do since these disks will end up being duds on older cd players. 2. DOn't expect Napster to comeback at all 3. People will continue to hawk mp3's online. This will hurt the music industry. 4. This will be Pearl Jam's Last year!!! I swear it... 5. Releasing albums this year will be Concrete Blonde, Fleetwood Mac, and Pearl Jam. It will not be a big year for realeases. 6. Expect a huge announcement from the album Abba. Part F-Entertainment/People- 1. All I can say is DVD, DVD, Dvd! Regular Vhs videos will start going the way of Beta tapes. 2. I meant that this year Jenny Jones, Sally Jesse Raphael and Jerry Spinger will be cancelled. Add to that list Rikki Lake and Montel. The honeymoon with talk shows is over. 3. The box office will have another flat year. 4. More people will be staying home for entertainment this year. Look for board games to become popular. 5. The xbox will turn out to be no big deal. Nintendo is still the winner in video games. Part G-Seattle Area Predictions- 1. The big issue this year will be transportation and how to fix it. More Busses? 2. Something will happen to jeopordize the Light rail project. 3. Expect more layoffs and Controversy from Boeing. 4. Another major employer will move it's headquarters out of the area. 5. The Space Needle will be hurting this year. 6. Expect a few more earthquakes this year. Though not as bad as last years they will certainly be wake up calls. Scientists will discover that they are related to the Spokane earthquake swarms. 7. It will be a worse year for Nordstrom 8. Focus will be on the deteriation of Capitol hill and the Udistrict and how to fix them. 9. Mayor Greg Nickels will not be all he is cracked up to be. 10. Seattle will say goodbye to icon's Cellophane Square and Archie Mcfee's Toy store. Boo who... Part H-Visions.... This is a new section this year. Last year when I was doing predictions, I was certain that something would happen to the World Trade Center. I didn't want to predict it because the visions that came to me were very disturbing and I felt that if I did predict it, somehow it would come back to me. I also did not have an exact prediction on what would happen. I did not imagine they would be brought down like they were. I just kept seeing the towers and they made a bold statement in my mind. This year I am having another vision like that, however I can not pinpoint where or what it means. All I know is that it has to relate to a teddy bear. I know this is totally crazy and off the wall but keep your eyes out for something that has to do with a teddy bear. It may mean nothing. |
