DAYCARE
IN EVERETT CLOSES
NEGLECT/UNHEALTHY CONDITIONS
CITED |
| D.S.H.S. has closed Little
Hands Daycare in Everett this week, After nearly two years of complaints
and a lengthy investigation. Recently a staff member at ¡DavE!'s
Whirled Wide Web! Had a child enrolled in the center but pulled her out
due to neglect. As recently as January our investigative reporters had
learned of more neglect. There were many times children were unsupervised.
In one instance, children were allowed to go to the front office where
the check in desk was. However there was0 no adult supervision at the time.
Leaving the door open for a child to get hurt or even worse, taken by a
stranger. The center's owne, Lamae Mitchell has recently said that she
wants to re-open the Daycare. However with the charges filed against
the daycare, this should never happen. If your child attended Little Hands
Daycare, Please call Linda Moss (425)339-1928 and let them know your side
of the story. |

| COMPLAINTS
OF THE WEEK |
| This week NBC aired it's minisieries
called the 60's. I thought it was a wonderful movie and liked how they
combined old news footage with the movie. I couldn't help but think that
the 60's were a really screwed up decade. I also kept thinking "How could
we do that as a country?" How could we let blacks get beat up for having
lunch at a lunch counter? How could we let our soldiers go to fight in
vietnam? How? Why? It seems wierd to me after living in the nineties that
we actually used to deny a person cause of thier race, the right to vote,
get an education or sit where they want to. How could we let that happen?
After watching this movie, it made me grateful that I live in the decade
I do today. But I guess in reality, the issues are the same today. They
are just driven around in different vehicles=-] |
