fig 1- "Our Hero" -Digger Wells
|
Sometime back in 1992 in an
apartment the size of a closet. Something bigger happened that would change
my life forever. Four very talented and wonderful guys from very different
musical backgrounds formed the band "Digger Wells". The band never had
the opportunity to join the status of Nirvana or Alice in Chains but in
my life they were the Beatles. This month, will be the 8th anniversary
that Digger Wells first played their first show at Seattle's Crocodile
cafe. To celebrate this event, Digger Wells' record labels No Souvenirs
as well as ¡DavE!'s Whirled Wide Web are giving you the chance to
meet this wonderful and talented group. I hope you enjoy this feature because
it come's from the heart...

| The band formed in the summer
of 1992. during a time when Seattle was known more for it's music than
for it's Space Needle. The way the group got together was not unusual.
Ralf and Kirk had met earlier in 1986 at a party. Ralph met Drummer Doug
when he was in the Seattle group The Brittins. Doug's brother joined as
bass and thus Digger Wells Was born. The first show was played on 16 September
1992 at The Crocodile Cafe as part of the Primarily Prose festiveal that
was held weekly. The band enjoyed quite a success at this show and was
asked back the next month to to more. This started a wave of bookings by
the band manager Dave. The band continued to play regularly at Mad Dogs,
The Lake City Tavern, The Romper Room, The Ditto Tavern, The Emerald Diner
and the Double Tree hotel. In July of 1993 the band teamed up with the
group Color Blind and was regularly playing shows with them as well. Sadly
the band disbanded in September of 1993. Only 1 year after the band was
created. During it's time, the band had a huge following and released two
demos. Today the fomer members of the band are enjoying new success. Former
Lead Singer Kirk Gibberson is the lead singer of Fun with Mickey. Which
is an internet based band. Doug, Dave and Ralph are currently in the band
Buckley-Peters. |
