| After living for about 35 years now, I've come to the conclusion that
religion sucks! Well ok, to be fair, I'll say it sucks for me. Now many
people may say i'm athiest or agnostic but to me those are religions as
well and i'm neither. I've been to the Catholic church before, the 7th
day advenists, the Lutherine church and even a penticostal church. I've
had dealings with the Mormons, and Jehovah witnesess. I could pick apart
each religion but I won't. Because even though none of those religions
are right for me, I know they have helped other people. I respect that.
One of the reasons I don't like religion is because it seems to cause
a lot of strife in peoples lives. Sure religion does good, it helps a lot
of charities but there is always some religious scandal that seems to bring
down that house. And why be labled.
Personally I believe in God or some supreme being. I don't think he/she
intended the world to be split up religiously or statley. I think he intended
the world to be as one people who love and cherish each other. I think
if you know in your heart that you did good at the end of the day that's
enough for him. I also believe that if you make mistakes, god will forgive
you. Without having to atone yourself, do Hail Mary's etc. This has been
enough for me.
I don't believe by running my life based on the laws of the bible. To
me the Bible is a book. It could be fact or fiction. Who know's? Who cares?
I'm not going to base my life on something that happened thousands of years
ago in order to supposedly better my life. I feel that I will better my
life on my own. It's all about knowing what's wrong or right and
how you handle it that makes you a better person. Not how much you pray
to god every day.
I do have a particular complaint though, I don't care what your bible
says about preaching to people. I find it extremely RUDE that Mormons and
Jehovah Witnesses come to your door to tell you about their religion. If
I wanted to know, I would already be at your church.
So that's why I don't like religion. If you are a devout religious person,
don't pray for me. It's a waste of time. I've lived life probably better
than you have for the last 35 years, I don't need to be saved, because
I'm not going anywhere!
