Coronation street is a soap opera that is shown in the United Kingdom 4 times a week. The show has been running since 1960 and now airs in Canada, New Zealand and Australia as well as other parts of the world. 

The attraction lies in the mundane. The show is set in the fictional Weatherfield. The characters are oridnary people(Imagine that U.s. Soaps) and the plots are written from a character's viewpoint, not by issue led storylines.

Coronation street started out being broadcast only 2 time's a week when it started. Today it has expanded to 4 days per week. 

Hopefully someday it will be appearing regularly in the United States!
