 Showbox Song Set
Well Finally after years of Loving Concrete Blonde and missing their shows like there is no tomorrow. I finally got the change to see them... Twice!!! First at Bumbershoot and Next at The Showbox. So, I have decided to review the shows and share my experiences at the two shows... Read on...
Saturday 31 August 2002-Bumbershoot
Well I think I was just getting over the fact that I would never see Concrete Blonde live when they announced that Concrete Blonde would play at the Key Arena on August 31 at Bumbershoot. Wow. Bumbershoot. That was bigtime and I was not going to miss it for the world. Well as the week before rolled up I was a bundle of nerves? What would happen this time? Would the car break down? Would I get sick? Would I have to watch Serena? I had back up plans this time. If the car broke, I would talk a bus to Seattle and stay the night. If I had to watch SErena she would come with. If I got sick, oh well I would go anyway. Well for some reason, none of the above happened and I got to go to the show! I decided to make this my day and got to the show two hours early so I would get a good place in line. While I was waiting, I decided that I hate bumbershoot. It's too crouded and the people who put it on try to cram too much onto the SEattle Center gounds. So an hour before the show, I went to the entrance of Key Arena to wait. I got there and was first in line.... So I thought.... I was waiting there and was suprised because no one else was. Then out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a sign that was pointing to the other side of the Key arena as the entrance. So I walked over there and there was a line of people. I got in line and waited. I looked at the crowd. They were a lot younger than I expected. There were plenty of Johnette Wanna bee's. While I was waiting in line, some guys came up and went into the bushes and came out with a case of beer. They had hid it there for the show before. Everyone in line had a laugh. The line started moving. I was getting nervous/excited. What was Johnette like? Would they put on a good show? I couldn't wait. Once we got inside the key I had to decide where to sit/stand. I decided to stand on the floor as close as I could to the stage. I thought for a moment I would be too old to handle it. but then I thought, How often do I get to see such a cool band. at 8:00 pm, the lights went out and Johnette, Jim and Gabriel came out onto the stage. They were wearing cool chinese pajama like outfits. Johnette  came out with a disposable camera and took pictures of the audience. It was way cool. The band started off with an updated version of God is A bullet. Johnette was very animated and she played her Bass and took control of it like it was nothing. She was very extreme very in your face. I love her even more now. Jim played guitar and enjoyed doing so. And gabriel is a great addition to the show. I'm sure by the end of the night Johnette was exhausted. Towards the middle of the show, Johnette performed Angel off of Group Therapy and there was a man dressed as a bum who came out onstage and did a dance. It was way cool. The whole enitire show was awesome. The only thing was it seemed like it ended too early but doesn't it always when you are having fun? At the end of the show, I was kicking myself for missing all the other shows. Finally though the curse is broken. I vowed that every time Concrete Blonde comes to Seattle, I would go see them. Because they were the best show I have ever gone to.

Saturday January 25, 2003-The Showbox
Wow 6 months didn't even pass and Concrete Blonde is back in Seattle this time at the Showbox. And because of my vow after the last concert, I was not going to miss this one either. So I went to Seattle to see them. They were going on last. The showbox is a small venue, In fact it seems just like the place that Concrete Blonde was playing at in the Joey video. I went in and waited. The two bands that were playing before sucked!!! Then Concrete Blonde came on. They were absolutely as hot as ever. Johnette was even more animated then at Bumbershoot. The band started out with 100 games of Solitaire. During the show, someone asked Johnette what she thought of George Bush "I can't really say what I want to do to George Bush" she said "But I think everything will take care of itself if we all send him a pretzel" ---Gotta love her for that. Every song they sang was totally awesome. My only beef was there was no Swag. What's up with that? I can't wait for them to come back again.
