THE BEGINNING OF
THE END...
In the early 80's ABBA released the Album "Super Trouper" This album included three singles. "Super Trouper", "Lay all your love on me" and the absolutely wonderful "Winner takes it all". By this time the group had split up marriage wise. Bjorn and Agnetha and Benny and Frida were divorced however they vowed the group would live on. The group did not tour in support of "Super Trouper". It wasn't until the end of 1981, that ABBA would release their last and final studio album. "The Visitors" was their best work as well. The group was no longer singing disco hits but songs that reflected life as adults. The group had grown up and transformed. "The Visitors" did not however do as well as their prior albums. While the album did reach number one. It only had two singles. "One of Us" and "When all is said and done". By 1982 the group was celebrating ten years together. The group released a new compilation album called "ABBA-The Singles the first ten years". This album included all of the groups single releases and two new songs. "Under Attack" and the absolutely fabulous Leonard Cohenish "The day before you came" The album enjoyed success but neither of the songs became hits." By the end of 1983, fans were eagerly awaiting a new album. However the only new albums they would get from here out would either be compilation albums, or solo albums. |
