THE ARRIVAL OF THE REVIVAL...
In 1992 Polygram bought out the entire ABBA catologue of music and released the compilation album "ABBA Gold" This spawned a string of ABBA tributes and revivals that would last well into the next century. "ABBA Gold" Even released a single "Dancing Queen" re hit the charts at number 16. By this time there were ABBA revival groups starting up. The most well known was Bjorn Again, which had sell out shows. Also Mainstreem groups were starting to cover ABBA songs. The group Erasure even released and album called ABBAesque.

In 1993 Polygram released another ABBA compilation called "More ABBA Gold" and released the spanish version of "ABBA Gold" and the Spanish version of "More ABBA Gold". By the mid 90's many groups were enjoying a resurgence with boxed sets. ABBA was no exception. In 1994, Polygram released the Boxed Set "Thank you for the music" The 4 disk set included ABBA's greatest hits and favorite songs as well as songs that were previously unreleased. Disk 4 was an entire 20 song disk of unreleased ABBA songs. It was also around this time that the ABBA revival started showing up on the big screen. ABBA was mentioned many times in "Pricilla-Queen of the desert" and "Muriel's Wedding" By 1997, Polygram relized that many of the past ABBA albums were never released on Compact disk. So Polygram released the entire cataloge on compact disk. This time even adding songs on some Compilations. In 1998, Bjorn and Benny got together again and opened the play "Mamma Mia" the musical. The musical is currently playing in London. In 1999, talk of ABBA re-uniting was really starting to catch on. First there were two ABBA tribute Compact disks that were released. Then in June of 1999, the group actually did re-unite for the first time in over 8 years!
