INTRODUCTION
Picture it, any town in the world 1977, Me and the neighborhood kids were in a friends house listening to Abba. It was our own mini Abba club. And no other group in the world mattered at that time. I still remember the first time I heard the group. It was a Saturday afternoon. I was going through some of my fathers records(those big black plastic things that look like a licorice pizza.) My dad used to get free records in the mail and reviewed them. One caught my eye. It was a group of four people sitting in a helicopter. It was Abba's Arrival. From the moment I first played it, I kept playing it over and over. It started a relationship that lasted for years. I had to get every one of their albums. Next was the Greatest hits, then the Album and so on. In 1981 I decided to convert over to cassette tapes. My first ever cassette tape that I bought was Abba's the Visitors. It was also the last thing I bought in my hometown before we moved to Seattle. It was also a start of an over 1000 cassette collection. But that is another webpage. It was also Abba's last true studio album and their best. When I moved to Seattle I joined the fan club Abba Army America. Unfortunately by that time, the group was unofficially broke up. But that didn't stop me from buying Abba releases. It started with Agnetha's and Frida's solo albums. Then The Singles, Chess soundtrack and I Love Abba. By the time Abba live came out in 1986, I was well into about 500 other bands and Abba started to take a back seat with me. Sure every now and then I would buy yet another compilation. Nothing new would be on these, the songs would just be arranged differently and have a new album title. But as the devoted fan, I felt it my honor and duty to purchase them. Then in the early 90's a new resurgence of Abba started to happen and as I was getting on in the years, I decided to relive my childhood. When Abba gold was released, I bought it and couldn't stop listening to it. Toward the end of the 90's the group was popular again. So in tribute to this wonderful icon from Sweden, we bring you ¡abSALUTEly ABBA! It's our little tribute to one of my favorite groups. And as many of you know, I predicted that the group would re unite last year and I was right! Read the articles in this special for more details.
